In the fall of 2006, an $18 billion department store asked for their help with a high-profile project – a complete relaunch of their lingerie department to compete against the leading lingerie specialty retailer.

Achieving the right look was critical – to ensure the department would stand out from the rest of the store, draw in customers and create the right image. And the timing for the 1,000 store roll-out left no margin for error.

A key element of that look was a 4-part MDF panel combining a 3-D surface with trim strips. The 3-D portion was designed to have a shimmery, opalescent finish while the trim strips needed to match the floor fixtures used in the department. And the finish on all elements needed to be durable enough for installation in high-traffic locations without showing wear.

All in all, a challenging assignment both visually and logistically. So where did Sparks turn? To DVUV.

Why? Because DVUV was able to deliver the right look and meet the production challenges without missing a beat.

During the design phase, DVUV formulated custom powders to match the trim strips exactly and create just the iridescent pearl-tone the designer wanted.

Once production began, the manufacturing team applied the powders to achieve flawless, seamless coverage on all the individual components. Then they assembled the 4-part panels and packaged the units for distribution to the stores.

Despite challenging deadlines, all panels were received on schedule without a single reject or return.
